In Q3 2024, CyberRatings.org performed an independent test of the VMware VeloCloud SD-WAN by Broadcom against the SD-WAN Test Methodology v2.0 at our facility in Austin, Texas lab. We tested the Edge 3800 as a high availability pair at the head-end, one Edge 3400 at corporate headquarters (Branch 1), one Edge 640 at the regional office (Branch 2), and the Edge 710 model at the retail outlet (Branch 3). Each use case for traffic content, throughput, transport, and impairments to see how the SD-WAN performed. The “AAA” score was based on Management, Routing & Access Control, Stability & Reliability, and the Mean Opinion Score (MOS). A score of 4.41/4.53 represents the maximum achievable MOS for VoIP/video. The VMware VeloCloud SD-WAN handled all use cases easily and proved highly reliable and capable. It should be on everyone’s shortlist.

Product ratings give decision-makers clear, forward-looking insight into the effectiveness of products tested. This report employs a letter rating system, which provides a forecast about a product’s capacity to meet its obligations to consumers over time. Products are assigned letter ratings ranging from AAA-D, calculated on a scale from 0 to 800. The highest rating of ‘AAA’ indicates that the product’s capacity to meet its commitments to consumers is extremely strong while a product rated ‘D’ is actively being breached by known threats and is unable to protect consumers. Ratings inform consumers, enhancing transparency and enabling them to focus on considerations that are most critical to their organizations.
