In Q2 2024, CyberRatings.org performed an independent test of the Fortinet FortiGate-900G against the Enterprise Firewall Test Methodology v2.2 at our facility in Austin, Texas. The product was subjected to thorough testing to determine how it handled TLS/SSL 1.2 and 1.3 cipher suites, how it defended against 1,509 exploits, whether its protection could be bypassed by any of 1,569 evasions, and whether the device would remain stable under adverse conditions. To provide a more realistic rating based on modern network traffic, both clear text and encrypted traffic were measured.

Product ratings give decision-makers clear, forward-looking insight into the effectiveness of products tested. After extensive testing of multiple products in one test category, this product was given a rating based on the Security Value Map (SVM), which shows the test results for all products in a testing cycle and how they performed against the other products evaluated. The SVM measures products’ Security Effectiveness, Performance and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). This view has three ratings: Recommended, Neutral and Caution. Typically, those products receiving the highest Security Effectiveness scores would be Recommended.
