During Q4, 2020, an independent test of the Barracuda CloudGen Firewall F18 v8.1.0-0348 was performed (Branch 3). The Branch 3 use case is a good reference for smaller installations such as retail outlets, gas stations and restaurants, quality of experience is tested for data traffic, not audio and video. With flexible, robust Zero-Touch Provisioning, the time to create a new configuration was fast; cloning even faster. Deployment was easy, and the product included comprehensive documentation. HTTP Connect times excellent; FTP latency excellent; Emails sent per second excellent; however, when delayed burst was introduced, the performance experienced a degradation; the Rated Throughput was extremely good; and Security Effectiveness (tested via HQ DC) was good.

Product ratings give decision-makers clear, forward-looking insight into the effectiveness of products tested. This report employs a letter rating system, which provides a forecast about a product’s capacity to meet its obligations to consumers over time. Products are assigned letter ratings ranging from AAA-D, calculated on a scale from 0 to 800. The highest rating of ‘AAA’ indicates that the product’s capacity to meet its commitments to consumers is extremely strong while a product rated ‘D’ is actively being breached by known threats and is unable to protect consumers. Ratings inform consumers, enhancing transparency and enabling them to focus on considerations that are most critical to their organizations.
